'Cutaneous, topical application, including ointment, spray, patch' also includes iontopheresis, i.e., using an electric current to stimulate absorption through the skin.
'Subcutaneous' also includes intradermal, e.g., tuberculin injection, and involves piercing the skin.
'Ophthalmic' includes application to the eyelid, conjunctiva or sclera.
'Oral, including sublingual and buccal' involves taking the substance by mouth and swallowing it or keeping it under the tongue or against the inside of the cheek to be absorbed.
'Otic' includes instillation into the ear canal.
