Link vaccine dose to patient record
The system SHOULD provide the ability to link each individual vaccine dose/identifier to a specific patient record by patient ID, prescribing provider, planned date of administration, patient insurance , and vaccine identifiers, including type (antigen combination), brand, lot number, and dose number.
Differential patient acceptance or insurance coverage for a vaccine: There will be situations in which a practice serves an area where there is differential patient acceptance (and/or insurance coverage of a vaccine (such as HPV System design needs to avoid the assumption that all patients should follow the same vaccine schedule. VFC program vaccines limited to specific insurance situations: When a practice has a mixed Medicaid and private insurance population and uses the Vaccines for Children (VFC program (see http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/vfc/index.html
the individual vaccine doses must be identified, managed, and patient-matched. VFC vaccines may only be given to children on Medicaid or with no insurance.
